Coaching for Teen Boys and Young Men
Teen boys need a steady, grounded adult man who knows how to build trust, hold high standards, and help them navigate adolescence with confidence and integrity.
I offer one-on-one weekly or bi-weekly online coaching sessions with teen boys and young men
to support them through the emotional, relational, and spiritual challenges of adolescence.
About Alex
For over a decade, I’ve worked with young men as a mentor, experiential educator, and rites of passage guide. I co-founded Kinhood, a relational development organization for men, and hold a Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, focusing on leadership development and the impact of technology on psychological development.
Working with teenage boys has required me to unlearn the fear and defensiveness I felt towards other boys when I myself was a teenager. Over the years, I’ve built the capacity to meet young men with respect, compassion, and deep reverence for who they are and who they are becoming. I recognize their inherent gifts and rightful place in our world, and I want nothing more than for them to see that for themselves.

What Your Son Can Expect
Presence & Connection.
I build an environment where he feels safe to bring what's real when he's ready.
-
Active Listening: I practice presence, keep my stories and insights limited, and only push on a door if he's opened it a little. Teen boys often shut down when they feel interrogated or lectured to. I make sure it's an actual conversation.
-
Non-Verbal Expression: If he doesn't want to talk, I have a toolkit of creative options with which to engage. And sometimes, we'll sit in silence together, which really be what's needed.
Reflection & Challenge.
Our conversations often take two forms:
-
Reflection: I act as a steady mirror that reflects his own strengths, hidden insecurities, and underlying patterns; this is a foundational practice for building confident self-perception.
-
Challenge: When his perspective gets narrow or overly self-focused, I push him to zoom out, examine his assumptions, and practice the empathy and compassion required to navigate the wider world.
Real World Application.
Our work connect directly to how he shows up at home, in school, and with his peers. He will be given tools and practices between sessions, which could look like:
-
Nature & Embodiment: A specific outdoor practice, walk, or time off screens to reset and stay grounded.
-
Social Experiments: Small prompts to try out with friends or family, testing new ways of communicating, setting boundaries, or handling conflict.
-
Curated Media: A book chapter, essay, podcast episode, or video that reshapes how he views a current problem or topic.
